Access statement

Introduction:

Our aim is to provide a comfortable environment for all of our guests in Walltown Lodge bed and breakfast, where all facilities are on the ground floor of our 6 bed roomed bungalow. At present we offer 3 ground floor bedrooms to visitors.

Pre-arrival:

Road directions: Access from the main A69 route between Newcastle and Carlisle. Take the access road B6318 for Greenhead. Turn right signposted Chollerford 18 mile. As you rise out of Greenhead follow the signs for The Roman Army Museum which is first left at the top of the hill. Walltown Lodge is directly opposite The Roman Army Museum car park.

Public Transport: Bus route AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus which follows the route of Hadrian’s Wall between Newcastle and Carlisle stops at our door at The Roman Army Museum, this bus takes the scenic route. Alternatively the 685 bus route between Newcastle and Carlisle takes a more direct route along the A69, our nearest stop is Bankfoot near Greenhead. Here you are a mile away from our location.

The railway between Newcastle and Carlisle stops at Haltwhistle, here you are 2 miles away from our location. From Haltwhistle train station you can access the AD122 bus to our location. If the AD122 is inaccessible a pick-up or taxi may be arranged in advance.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities:

Car parking at Walltown Lodge is at the rear of the property, there is ample room for 6 cars, parking is on a first come first served basis. There is plenty of room to accommodate loading/unloading vehicles when parked. The drive is gravelled and in some areas cobbled and can be uneven in some areas. Outside lighting can be turned on if needed, if you require any assistance upon arrival please let us know and we will be happy to help.
Please access the Bed and Breakfast by the second door on the right at the back of the house. There is one step through the doorway (13cm). (Door width77cm).

Main Entrance and Reception:

Once you have arrived you will be greeted in the entrance hallway. All rooms lead off the hall with tiled floor, those available to guests are all on the ground floor. We do not have hand rails or a loop system for hearing. All fire regulations are implemented and fire evacuation information in rooms must be adhered to. All rooms have mains fitted fire alarms, these are audible only, we do not have a visual alarm system. Walltown Lodge also has a house alarm system against intruders. We do not offer public telephones, public WC or specialist baby equipment. We do not permit smoking or animals inside the property.

Outdoors Facilities:

This includes a large garden with seating and exceptional views, the garden has many different levels and is accessible by steps only. Dog kennels are available by prior arrangement at an extra cost. A water bucket and dish are supplied. The dog owner must supply an up to date vaccination certificate. The dog owner is responsible for their own dog at all times.

Public Areas:

All rooms lead off the hall.
First left: Private Lounge by invitation only.
Second left: Dining room, (door width 74cm): Two tables each sitting four guests. Fully fitted carpet.
Stairs: No access.
Third left: Bedroom 1, (door width 74cm): One double bed with fitted wardrobe, draws, dressing table and 2 bedside cabinets. Fully fitted carpet. Step (15cm) and door (width 58cm) to complete en-suite facilities.
Fourth left: Bedroom 2, (door width 74cm): One double bed with wardrobe, 2 sets of draws, and a bedside cabinet. Fully fitted carpet. Step (15cm) and door (width 57cm) to complete en-suite facilities.
Fifth left: Bedroom 3, (door width 73cm): two single beds with wardrobe, draws and 2 bedside cabinets. Step (19cm) and door ( 77cm) to complete en-suite facilities.
Sixth left: Private kitchen: we can accept small items of food or medication in the fridge by prior arrangement.
Seventh left: Dry room, (door width 75cm)

En-suite facilities include a shower with mixer head, heated towel rail, sink with mixer taps, WC, mirror, vanity shelf, extractor fan and lino flooring.
Each bedroom has a remote control T.V, mirror, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities.

Carlisle (with shop mobility): 20 miles
Newcastle city centre: 45 miles
Metro centre(with shop mobility): 40 miles
