Our house boasts the best position to really make the most of your time in Hadrian’s wall country. Just off the B6318 “The Military road” our property is an ideally placed base to explore the diversity of northern England. Be our guest at Walltown lodge, enjoy warm Northumbrian hospitality and let us make your stay a break to remember.
We offer two double bedrooms and one twin bedded room all on the ground floor, all guest rooms are complete with en-suite facilities, please see the accommodation page for more details.
Walltown Quarry national trust recreation site offers short walks, picnic facilities and is a brilliant place to enjoy wildlife.
Walltown crags is a dramatic face of whinstone, a walk to the top cannot be missed, outstanding views stretch in all directions, please remember your camera as views like these cannot be missed. The whinstone fault known as the whinsyke give Hadrian the idea to use the natural crags from east to west to build his northern frontier as a defence against the marauding barbarians of the North.
Hadrian’s wall at Walltown crags is often referred to as one of the best sections of the wall. Climbing the dramatic nine nicks of Thirwall to the east offers fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.
Visitors can explore the area using the many cycle routes or by the AD122 bus route which stops at our door.
